I was born into the business of welding and the metal arts. I grew up watching my father who was a welder, machinist and mechanic in Macgregor, Manitoba. After a 19-year career as welder with the Ottawa Public School Board, I decided to set out on my own, creating my own business in 1999, Artisan Metalworks. It gave me a way to follow my heart and become more active on the artistic side of working with metal.
Although one side of my business still consists of functional welding, working with all types of metals, I also handcraft art such as the detailed bald eagle made of hammered brass, copper candelabras and metal coffee table bottoms, and I take commissions.
